Title
Design and evaluation of a high performance file system for message passing parallel computers
Abstract
The rapid increase in compute and communication performance of local memory message passing multicomputer systems places matching demand on disk I/O bandwidth. While high performance disk drives can provide some improvements in disk bandwidth, a cost effective approach suggests exploring parallel disk arrays using low cost disk units. The authors study the design and performance issues of such a parallel disk array file system and provide simulation results for its performance prediction.
