Title
On the performance of amplify-and-forward protocol with generalised order selection combining
Abstract
AbstractThis paper investigates the performance of amplify-and-forward protocol with selection combining of i1th, i2th,' and iKth best relays. The closed-form expressions for the symbol error rate, outage probability and channel capacity are derived. Analysis reveals that the diversity-multiplexing trade-off is R-i1+2[1-r1+K], where r is the multiplexing gain and R is the total number of relays. Investigation also shows that the fixed-gain relaying provides the same diversity gain with the variable-gain relaying. Simulation and numerical results substantiate the tightness of derived expressions and the accuracy of our theoretical analysis. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
