Today, the communications industry is facing an era of unprecedented change. The deregulation of the telecommunications industry has opened the marketplace to many new players. A variety of new technologies have been realized over the past decades that now make possible a wide variety of new telecommunications services. The new players combined with the new technologies give rise to a new marketplace complete with new business models for the future.In this talk, we address the fundamental questions: What does the study of "feature interactions" have to contribute to this new world of telecommunications? Is this the study of an obscure topic of a soon to be obsolete technology designed for the late twentieth century's telecommunications business'! Or does this research topic hold the keys to providing some fundamental research topics for the telecommunications industry in the next century? |
