Title
Natural Language Processing and Diagrams
Abstract
This paper is about Natural Language Processing used as output means for the provision of natural language (English) in the description of the content of a visual, in particular a diagram. In a sense it combines Diagram Understanding with Natural Language Processing. A description of the technique whereby this is accomplished is accompanied by code text such as Semantic Web language material. RDF/S, DAML-OIL, CYCSUMO, and SVG and Java, for the procedural aspects. This paper discusses how metadata and also Fuzzy Sets can augment SVG diagrams. An SVG animation example is shown to represent knowledge which is not static, such as in an ontology. It extends through a temporal or progressive period. The cognitive concept of object persistance is shown.
