Transmitter non-linear components cause distortions when a signal with high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is transmitted. High PAPR is a parameter commonly associated to the multi-carrier signals like Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Software Radio (SWR).
