Title
Multiscale Characterization of Texture Anistropy
Abstract
The estimation of the textural features of an object is a classical problem for image processing. When directional textures occur, texture anisotropy is one of the most relevant textural feature that can be extracted in order to identi' the physical properties of the studied object. Nevertheless, we show that this property is strongly linked with the scale of observation of the texture. For this purpose, in this paper, we introduce a method for the estimation of texture orientation at a given scale and the corresponding anisotropy feature. Some results are given, based both on natural and synthetic pictures.
