A new method for lessening skew in mapped and submapped meshes is presented. This new method involvesprogressive subdivision of a surface into loops consisting of four sides. Using these loops, matching constraints canbe set on the curves of the surface, which will propagate interval assignments across the surface, allowing a meshwith a better skew metric to be generated. Keywords: mesh generation, skew measure, virtual vertex, mapped mesh, mesh quality1.
