Title
Large file transmission in network-coded networks with packet loss: a performance perspective
Abstract
Network coding can significantly improve the transmission rate of communication networks with packet loss compared with routing. However, using network coding usually incurs higher computational and storage costs in the network devices and terminals. We discuss some recent schemes for file transmission in networks employing network coding and compare their computational and storage costs. The conclusion is that network coding is almost ready for practical applications in large file transmission.
