Finite triangular mesh generation oriented to geospatial computation
Abstract
Finite element meshes are the foundation of geographical mechanism and process model computation, with good geometrical adaptivity, triangular mesh is used widely in Geospatial computation. Considering that the geospatial objects mostly have lots of spatial constraints and complex boundaries, as well as the lack in study on finite mesh generation methods in geoscientific field, a finite triangular mesh generation method based on advancing fronts technique (AFT) is proposed here, which has considered external boundary and constrained vertexes, lines, holes in the interior of the object. At the end of mesh generation, topology examination and mesh optimization are used to improve the mesh quality, and then the finite triangular mesh generation is finished on the premise of considering spatial constraints and ensuring the quality of boundary elements. Experimental results show that the method has high process efficiency of spatial constraints, and can generate high quality mesh, especially boundary elements, which is suitable for geographical mechanism and process simulation based on Finite element method.
