Title
Extending the OpenGeospatials Specification for Managing Discrete and Continuous Time Dependent Data
Abstract
The integrated management of continuous fields and discrete objects is particularly important for all those systems which aim to support expert users in analysis and decision making about real-world scenarios. In this paper, we present an extended OpenGeospatial-based architecture able to store continuous fields along with their spatial and temporal properties. Data are defined in agreement with the binary representation and new functions are defined to manage the underlying structure with data. Our approach is fully consistent with the previous OpenGeospatial specification, thus guaranteeing compatibility with respect to existing geographic databases.
