In this paper, we present a model describing the accumulation and passage of fluid through a domain Ω comprising a porous medium. There is an inflow through a portion of the boundary as well as an outflow through a separate part of the boundary. The model consists of an initial value problem governing the growth of the region saturated with fluid and an elliptic boundary value problem describing the flow of the fluid within that region. The model is tested using field data obtained from the drainage of a highway roadbed. |
