Title
Performance Investigation Of A Trellis Shaping Using Shell Mapping Method
Abstract
The field of "shaping" had grown up out of the traditional field of constellation design. In coded modulation system, the total coding gain has come to be viewed as the sum of a coding gain and a shaping gain. This paper deals with a performance of a trellis shaping system when the shell mapping method is used for the mapper in the trellis shaping. From the presented results, we can see that the proposed trellis shaping has an identical constellation expansion ratio (CER) and normalized informativity as obtained in traditional multidimensional trellis shaping, while increasing the shaping gain.
