Title
Overview of an Agent Based Search Engine Architecture
Abstract
Due to the exponential growth of Internet information, the search process has become complicated and ineffective, overwhelming the users with irrelevant information. Most of the current Internet search engines base their search on the co-occurrence of keywords within the text, dealing only with lexical and sometimes syntactic aspects. The use of the vector space model and thesaurus like WordNet, provides the system with semantic qualities based on hypernymous, hyponymous or synonymy. For these reasons, in this work it is presented the architecture based on agents of a new test platform for Internet search, GUMSe(1) (in the SMILe(2) framework), with the aim of dealing with the problem of the improvement in capability and quality of search engines. The integration, architecture and searching process in GUMSE are detailed.
