Title
The minimum number of gateways for maximizing throughput in wireless mesh networks
Abstract
In this paper, we study the challenging problem of optimizing gateway placement for throughput in Wireless Mesh Networks and propose a novel algorithm based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for it. By generating the locations of gateway randomly and independently, we calculate the fitness value of each scheme, and update them step by step with the best method to quickly find the optimal scheme and achieve better than previous studies. Moreover, many previous studies about optimizing gateway placement for throughput in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) show that when the number of gateways increases, the throughput might not be better. So in this paper, we also find the minimum number of gateways to maximize the throughput of WMN.
