In this paper, we study energy consumption for the IEEE 802.16e broadband wireless access (BWA) network, A mobile subscriber station goes to sleep-mode after negations with the base station and temporarily wake-up periodically for a short interval to check whether there is downlink traffic to it to decide whether it goes to wake-mode or continues to be in the sleep-mode. The sleep interval is increased exponentially upon no arrival traffic. We analytically model the sleep-mode scheme and validate the model with simulations. |
