The number of patients needing treatment for irreversible renal failure has continued to increase over the last decade. This study uses discrete event simulation to explore the overall demand for treatment in United Kingdom (UK) over the next 15 years. Data were obtained from national and international data sources. The results show that the numbers will continue to increase in the foreseeable future with an expected increase in costs of two to three hundred million pounds over the time period. |
