In this paper, we present a novel stereo-image coding approach using digital watermarking based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) and singular value decomposition (SVD). Disparity obtained from the stereo pair is used as watermark, and is embedded into the left image of the stereo pair. By embedding into one image (left-image) the information needed to recover the other image (right-image), the storage requirements are halved. Instead of applying SVD on whole image, block based SVD scheme is used to embed the data, which increases the robustness of the scheme. A reliable watermark extraction scheme is developed for the extraction of disparity from the distorted images. Extracted disparity can be used to recover the right image of stereo pair as well as recovering 3D information of the scene. A series of experiments are conducted to prove the fidelity and robustness property of the scheme. Error analysis is done after extracting the disparity from the distorted images. The experimental results show that our scheme is highly reliable and is also robust against various attacks. |
