In wide-area distributed computing systems, it is often desirable to create remote copies (replicas) of files. File replication can be used to reduce access latency, improve data locality, and/or increase robustness, scalability and performance for distributed applications. In this paper, we describe a Web-based data grid replica management system (we call it GReplica) developed in Globus Toolkit. |
