In this paper, a novel algorithm of media synchronization is proposed for MPEG-2 software decoders. It is unnecessary for the proposed algorithm to regulate the values of the local system clock in a decoder. With audio as a master media stream whose playout frame rate is normal and video as a slave stream, the proposed algorithm synchronously initiates to play back them and makes use of presentation time stamp (PTS) of the media units which have a common time base to synchronize the presentation of video sequence with audio sequence. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve media synchronization and meet the requirements of perceived quality of service (P-QoS). |
