We present a transparent CIM-to-JMX gateway for combining complementary advantages of two partly competing management technologies, the Common Information Model (CIM) and Java Management Extensions (JMX), namely a rich data model and straightforward language binding respectively. This work supports a research prototype for policy-based storage management, whose aim is to enable intelligent placement decisions for file and digital media resources by taking both current availability and performance of contributing resources into account. |
