The trends in EMR and CPOE adoption in Japan under the national strategy.
Abstract
•In Japan, as of October 2011, EMR adoption rate is 20.9% in general clinics.•In hospitals, EMR adoption rate is 20.1% and CPOE adoption rate is 36.6%.•EMR and CPOE adoption rate of medium and large facilities is higher than small ones.•The government investment in Japan was concentrated for major hospitals.•Giving financial incentives is an effective means of raising EMR adoption rate.
