This paper is written on behalf of IFIP's Working Group 9.3 on Home-Oriented Informatics and Telematics (HOIT). After a short introduction of the subject we give an outline of the scope of HOIT referring to the main constituents of HOIT: home automation, home information systems and home telematics. Reflections on historical, economic and social perspectives on HOIT converge to vulnerability aspects of HOIT and the conclusion that benevolent developments of HOIT are dependent on the proper choices to be made by the involved parties. |
