The use of polarisation diversity techniques in reception could be adequate to improve the performance of the wireless networks operating in deep multipath fading environments. This paper explores this possibility, and presents a procedure to estimate the received cross-polarised power from wide band measurements performed at just one polarisation. Three different strategies have been tested, and the results are presented and analysed, detecting improvements even when the multipath is low in the channel. In highly multipath rooms, the improvement in terms of received power reaches 21%. |
