Title
Understanding a future with multiple pasts: projects on metahistorical understanding
Abstract
History learning has been of interest to learning scientists for many years, though it has not been investigated as vigorously as the Science-Technology-Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. This symposium presents four projects that are united by two goals: helping young learners understand what makes the discipline of history unique, and helping learning sciences researchers understand how insights from research in STEM disciplines may transfer to work in history education. The research spans three countries and both formal and informal learning environments.
