In this paper, we propose an advanced method for improving the performance of the H.264/AVC deblocking filter, which efficiently removes blocking artifacts and reduces computational complexity for stereoscopic video coding in mobile broadcasting. Right image filtering is performed rapidly based on the human visual system (HVS) and the variable block sizes of the left images. The proposed method could achieve about 40% increase in the speed of right image filtering, which could save more than 20% of the entire filtering time without a loss of visual quality. |
