Title
Do more distant collaborations have more citation impact?
Abstract
•We address question whether systematic differences exist between pairs of collaborating countries in terms of the citation impact of their joint output.•We find that citation impact increases with the geographical distance between the collaborating counties.•Country-specific effects on citation impact are also substantial.•We find no effect of language and interdisciplinarity on citation impact.
