Title
Quality Driven Transformation Compositions for Object Oriented Migration
Abstract
Reengineering legacy software systems to objectoriented platforms has received significant attention overthe past few years. In this paper, we propose a goaldriven software migration framework that aims to identifyand extract a quality object model from a proceduralsystem and to generate quality object oriented code. Theframework is composed of analysis tools, transformationrules, and non-functional requirement models for thetarget migrant system. Specifically, to facilitate the designand development of such goal driven migrationframework, source code transformation rules areassociated with a degree of belief that they contributetowards enhancing a desired property for the targetsystem. The migration process applies a search algorithmthat is guided by the source code analysis to select atransformation sequence that has the highest likelihood ofyielding such a target system. The migration of a selectedset of gnu AVL libraries to a new object oriented platformis presented as a proof of concept for the proposedtechnique.
