In this paper, a wavelet-based progressive image transmission scheme is proposed. The proposed scheme transforms a digital image from spatial domain into frequency domain by using Haar wavelet transformation. During the transmission, those spatial pixels are decomposed into the frequency coefficients. And in each transmission phase, the proposed scheme transmits the significant coefficients to the receiver for image reconstruction. In order to refine the reconstructed image, some selected coefficients are transmitted along with the significant coefficients. According to the experimental results, the proposed scheme can achieve good vision quality for the reconstructed image in early transmission phases, which helps the receiver speedily judge if the image is the actual one he wants. |
