Algebraic reasoning of position uncertainties of parts in an assembly
Abstract
In this paper, an algebraic method is proposed to calculate part position uncertainties in an assembly caused by part shape errors. Shape errors are treated as small expansion displacement and inclination of nominal form features! Possible contacts between assembled partx are synthesized based on the analysis of motion of the parts. Aeeordingly, a system of linear equations dating shape errors and displacements of parts from their nominal positions is obtained. They are algebraically solvti and part position uncertainties zaederived.
