During Esprit project 6942 PEPS (Performance Evaluation of Parallel Systems), we developed modelling tools for high-performance computer systems. Those tools are primarily aimed at application developers and platform designers. They rely on a proven object-oriented modelling methodology and the concept of a library of model components. The tools allow one to develop model libraries based on the technology of queueing networks. The technical details required by this technology are then hidden from the end user. The methodology and tools have been tested on seven test-cases, covering a wide spectrum of application areas and hardware platforms. The tools are now available as part of the software product MODLINE. |
