Title
MPLS Based Mobility Model for 3G/WLAN Integrated Networks and Its Performance Evaluation
Abstract
In this paper, MPLS based mobility management is proposed by enabling HMIPv6/MPLS in 3G/WLAN integrated framework. We develop an analytical model to evaluate registration update cost, network throughput and average packet transmission delay inside and outside the hierarchical domain for the proposed structure. Numerical results show that our proposed mobility management mechanism can significantly reduce average packet transmission delay with slight higher overhead in handoff sensitive environment. We compare our result with other mobile IP based protocol like MIPv4, MIPv6 and H- MPLS for performance evaluation.
