In this paper the development and testing of a virtual micro world for future micro assembly tasks using 3D display and a haptic device is presented. Several microforces which have equal magnitudes for typical micro assembly situations are explained. Difficulties in haptic perception related to the haptic device itself, end-effector and micro assembly process are discussed. Keywords: haptics, microassembly, microscale, van der Waals, electrostatic, capillary. |
