Throughput Analysis Based On A New Backoff Scheme
Abstract
This paper presents an analytical model for a CSMA/CA protocol with a variation in backoff algorithm and computes the saturation throughput of the corresponding scheme. The scheme differs from the standard backoff schemes in that the backoff time is not uniformly chosen in the contention window interval but is differentiated, which results in reducing collision probability under increasing loads. We analyze the proposed scheme using Markov model and show its effectiveness on network performances, comparing with other models.
