Title
Low SNR capacity of multi-base station cooperative transmission
Abstract
This paper investigates the ergodic sum capacity of the downlink transmission for cooperative cellular networks with multi-base stations (BSs) and single user in the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. We consider a general jointly correlated MIMO channel model and assume all BSs only have statistical channel state information (CSI), the user has perfect CSI. We first derive analytical expressions for the two key low SNR parameters: the minimum required E b /N o for reliable communications and the wideband slope S o . Based on these results, we study the effects of transmit and receive correlation, as well as the number of BSs. Monte-Carlo simulations are performed to validate our analytical results.
