The main drawback of a binary offset carrier (BOC) signal is that its autocorrelation has multiple side-peaks, causing an ambiguity problem in the BOC signal acquisition. In this paper, we propose an unambiguous acquisition scheme which not only removes the side-peaks completely by combining the sub-correlations making up the BOC autocorrelation, but also provides an improved acquisition performance than the conventional schemes by averaging out the noise. From numerical results, we confirm that the proposed scheme offers a better acquisition performance than the conventional schemes in terms of the mean acquisition time. |
