Title
Multiple user context menus for large displays
Abstract
Nowadays it is not uncommon to have a computer with a large wall-sized display. Such a computer provides a space that is large enough for multiple users to collaborate before the display. However, the current operating systems do not support multiple user collaboration well. For example, they allow only one cursor and only one context menu at one time. In this paper, we propose each user have their own context menu. We propose to use XML to define multiple user context menus and have implemented multiple user context menus on the X Windowing system based on MPX (Multi-Pointer X). To show the usefulness of the multiple user context menus, we have implemented an application named SimplePaint that allows multiple users to use context menus simultaneously during collaborative painting.
