Title
Planning for time-critical heterogeneous wired plus wireless industrial networks
Abstract
Distributed Control Systems in industrial settings need to be carefully dimensioned to provide correct operations timings. In heterogeneous settings, with wired and wireless components, there are many factors that have implications regarding timings and other issues such as security and fault-tolerance. In this paper we review the most important existing protocols and strategies for wired, wireless and hybrid industrial distributed control systems, focus on the problem of planning in both Fieldbus and heterogeneous industrial control systems, describe and test a solution and finally we indicate a set of open research issues.
