Implementing an Electronic Medical record in Pain Management: Managing the Change Process. |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
Implementing an electronic medical record system requires cognizance and management of change processes introduced with technology. There must be insight to clinical practice needs of user population, their workflow processes and documentation requirements. This knowledge must be coupled with an understanding of transition inherent to adoption of new technology and related barriers to change. A comprehensive approach to implementation was undertaken at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation's Pain Management Center that accommodated departmental needs for automation and addressed individual reactions to change and rate of acceptance. |
