Title
Analysis on the capacity and coverage of augmented data transmission for the ATSC terrestrial DTV system
Abstract
This paper analyzes the capacity and the coverage of the augmented data transmission (ADT). The ADT system can offer an additional data rate of up to a few Mbps based on hierarchical modulation within the 6-MHz DTV broadcasting channel without requiring any additional RF spectrum. The analysis results show that the spectral efficiency of ADT system is higher than that of the legacy DTV when the ADT signal is injected 30 dB below the legacy DTV signal.
