Title
A novel virtual storage area network solution for virtual desktop infrastructure
Abstract
The traditional personal computers have many security problems and are difficult to manage, thus desktop virtualization has been widely used due to its centralized management characteristic in solving the above issues [1]. In this paper we propose and discuss using Virtual SAN to enhance the performance of virtual desktop infrastructure. Using Virtual SAN can not only meet the requirement of virtual desktop infrastructure, but also reduce the total cost of ownership. Virtual SAN clusters the server solid-state drives and hard disks and creates a flash optimized, highly resilient shared datastore designed for virtual environment. The practical test results demonstrate that Virtual SAN can dynamically adjust and balance the resource so that each virtual desktop has the storage needed.
