This paper studies the performance of network coding (NC) based system, especially looking at the implications in surveillance applications. We argue that NC can provide advantages from a data throughput perspective; however, an analysis of NC mechanism, especially when there are erroneous channels in the network, is required. We study the performance of the NC mechanism based on several parameters for different scenarios categorized by the error-free and erroneous communication channels that introduce random errors either at packet or at symbol level. |
