The digital video broadcast (DVB) transport stream, consisting of multiplexed audio, video and data, also provides important program and system information. We aim to use this data to develop an application that can demultiplex, decode and record particular television programs specified by the user. This application, content sensitive digital video recorder (DVR), records a particular program whenever it is broadcasted despite the time of the broadcast. Therefore, even if the time of broadcast changes, the set-top-box can be programmed to use program specific information provided in the transport stream and provides a means of recording based on content rather than time. Our application is based on the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standards, which help to uniquely identify a TV program and its source within the MPEG-2 syntax [(2000), (1996), (2001)]. |
