Title
A sufficient condition based on the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality for efficient template matching
Abstract
The paper proposes a technique aimed at reducing the num- ber of calculations required to cany out an exhaustive tem- plate matchmg process based on the Normalized Cross Cor- relation (NCC). The technique deploys an effective suffi- cient condition, relying on the recently introduced concept of Lwunded partial correlation, that allows rapid elimination of the (mints that can not provide a better cross-correlation score with respect to the current hest candidate. In this paper we devise anovel sufficient condition b&ed on the Cauchy- Schwarz inequality and compare the experimental results with those attained using the standard NCC-based template matching algorithm and the already known sufficient condi- tion based on the lensen inequality.
