Title
Intelligent dynamic service provisioning (IDSP)
Abstract
Due to customer demands for communication services, network technology has made rapid progress. As a result, carriers are preparing a wider variety of communication services for the coming multimedia/B-ISDN era than have been previously possible. Similarly, due to advances in telecommunication terminal equipment technology, multiple customers will be able to simultaneously access communication services such as video-conference or electronic mail. It is important to provide customers with a user-friendly multimedia service environment that can customize and employ communication services in a flexible and dynamic manner. In order to achieve such an environment we propose a concept called “intelligent dynamic service provisioning (IDSP),” a new way to provide services in the coming multimedia/B-ISDN era. Then we describe service views of customers and carriers for multimedia services, and the interfaces required to propagate information which is necessary for providing services. Based on these views, we propose an architecture for the IDSP system
