This paper presents control techniques for the design of a congestion controller for available bit rate (ABR) traffic in ATM networks. Rate-based feedback is used to control traffic where sources adjust their transmission rate in response to feedback information from the network nodes. In particular, pole placement, optimal control, and fuzzy logic methods are described for the design of an explicit rate controller that will yield good transient and steady state performance |
