Title
Time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters: status and future directions
Abstract
Abstract- We discuss time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters,fsM o27= TI-ADC (ADCs)asa primeexampleofmerging analog anddigital signal processing. A time-interleaved ADC (TI-ADC) consists ofM parallel,ADC channel ADCsthatalternately takesamples fromtheinput signal, where l thesampling ratecanbeincreased bythenumberofchannels compared,f7|1Y/l= toasingle channel. We recall theadvantages oftimeinterleaving and,l investigate theproblems involved. Inparticular, we explain theerror analog input . ADC digital output behavior ofmismatches amongthechannels, whichdistort theoutput xd(t)T y[n] signal andreducethesystemperformance significantly, andprovide a fM =m2 MUX) concise framework fordealing withthem.Basedon thisanalysis, we I review theprinciple possibilities ofcalibrating TI-ADCs, wherewepoint+ ADC outthenecessities andadvantages ofdigital enhancement. Tothis end, we discuss openissues ofchannel mismatch identification aswellaschannel,fIM,=(M-1)I mismatch correction.,I I.INTRODUCTION-I Sinceanalog-to-digital converters (ADCs)ultimately limit the,Fig. 1.Time-interleaved ADC(TI-ADC) withM channels.
