Title
Comparative analysis of VoIPv4 and VoIPv6 in a bandwidth-limited wireless LAN testbed
Abstract
Managing QoS of VoIP is a challenge especially in a heterogeneous network environment such as Internet where often exists limitations or bottlenecks for the bandwidth. As the Internet protocol is evolving to a new version (v6) that offers a bigger address space at the cost of a bigger header size, there has been unawareness and worry how the increased header size affects real-time traffic, especially in bandwidth-limited wireless systems. In practice there will always be subnetworks and applications in the Internet that does not support the header compression and QoS methods available. Therefore there is a needed to analyze how VoIPv6 works in a bandwidth-limited wireless environment that does not support e.g. header compression, in comparison to VoIPv4. This was studied in a bandwidth-limited wireless LAN testbed. This paper presents the measurement results with analysis
