The purpose of this work is to present the reference path ad hoc routing (REPAR) mechanism, which has been designed to optimize the performance of reactive ad hoc routing protocols, in terms of key metrics for real time services, such as end-to-end delay and jitter. In order to accomplish such a challenge, efficient rerouting and constrained flooding schemes are supported, which minimize the impacts of topology dynamics. For validation purposes, REPAR is applied to AODV protocol and simulations are evaluated with focus on voice traffic and mobility scenario. The simulation results show that the proposed approach leads to significant performance improvement of AODV, in all scenarios and metrics of interest. |
