The recently proposed wireless network diversity multiple access (NDMA) protocols represent an innovative cross-layer perspective of the collision resolution problem. In the original NDMA proposal, the main system parameters are calculated based on perfect knowledge of the network configuration. Here we propose an adaptive detection mechanism, based on the outcome from the current and previous collision resolution periods, which is useful when only partial or no knowledge of the network configuration is available. Also, it is shown that whenever one or more users present long bursts of packets, additional convergence speed and throughput gain can be achieved by exploiting embedded queueing state information in the userspsila packets, acting as a resource reservation mechanism. Simulation and analytical results are presented to assess the system performance. |
