The representative method of color enhancement is the retinex based on human visual model. Although low contrast images are enhanced by the retinex, there exists color shifting problem that color tone change. In order to overcome the color shifting problem, a color restoration has been proposed. To this end, we propose a novel color restoration method using color projection technique. The proposed method consists of two steps. In the first step, an input image with low contrast is enhanced by a multi-scale retinex method. In the final step, by projecting each pixel of the enhanced image into the corresponding one of the input image, color restoration is performed. In experimental results, the proposed method has shown better performances of color restoration, compared with the existing method. |
